Ever hear those stories of being in labor for 46 hours or stuck at 8 centimeters and had a c-section for failure to progress? Yeah, I know you have. Thankfully, spinning babies techniques are here to help.

Spinning babies is a project of recorded techniques for optimal fetal positioning founded by midwife, Gail Tully, on her website, spinningbabies.com

This website and it’s accompanying techniques are unique because it comprises thousands of years’ worth of midwifery wisdom and physical therapy for pregnancy/birth nearly lost to obstetrics – when epidurals became a standard of care and c-sections were easily performed.

Nowadays, because women are mostly drugged during birth, the need for these techniques has become nearly obsolete in the hospital setting, leaving the knowledge about them to the midwives and alternative health practitioners.

The doctors can offer little to help if you can’t move and plus, they make a boatload more money when they do a c-section, so why bother with techniques?

If having a non-surgical birth is important to you and your clients, definitely check out today’s video to learn about which spinning babies techniques I use most often on my clients during labor.

For the past week, I’ve been telling you about various techniques to aid in optimal fetal positioning so you or your clients have shorter labors and avoid the need for a c-section due to fetal malpositioning or malpresentation (as 90% of c-sections are due to this reason). If you missed the previous 4 techniques, you can find them here:

(1) rebozo

(2) chiropractic care

(3) Arvigo techniques of maya abdominal massage

(4) acupuncture/moxibustion

and today, we’re talking about spinning babies techniques I use with my clients most often during labor.

Have you used the spinning babies techniques on your clients or looked them up and done them for yourself? If so, I’d love to hear from you. Let me know what magic and miracles you’ve witnessed using spinning babies techniques for optimal fetal positioning by writing in to lacey@laceybroussard.com or leaving a comment hear on the blog!

(4) of 8 techniques for optimal fetal positioning – acupuncture and moxibustion

If you’ve never heard of using acupuncture / moxibustion as a technique for optimal fetal positioning, you have to check this out.

It’s by far the most interesting technique I’ve come across and has over a 75% success rate in turning breech babies vertex and probably an even higher success rate for turning posterior babies anterior.

Today, you get to join me from my 4th story patio up in the palm trees in Key West as I show you the skyline and talk to you about acupuncture/moxibustion as a technique for OFP and how it works.

It’s beautiful here! Key West will definitely be on my list of places to revisit. Even with a tropical storm blowing through, Key West has been very familiar yet new and has gifted me a connection back to my sense of adventure – a feeling often left behind in the throws of motherhood to school-aged children.

I’m having so much fun exploring and going on new adventures, join me in the video here to see what I’ve been up to and learn about this interesting yet ancient technique for optimal fetal positioning.

If you missed the previous days’ videos on this topic, you can check them out here:

And today’s technique (4) Acupuncture/Moxibustion

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey. If you’re loving these videos, forward them to a fellow birth keeper or mama.  So many mama’s have no idea what optimal fetal positioning is. Yet, so many of them end up with c-sections because they aren’t educated on the topic and even if they are, many don’t know about the 8 techniques I’m telling you about over this 8-day journey or how they can help. Help spread the word and empower women to have better births by forwarding away!

Lacey

The Arvigo techniques of Maya abdominal massage were developed by naturopathic doctor, Rosita Arvigo after spending 30 years learning from a Mayan Shaman in Belize.

These holistic techniques just so happen to be of enormous benefit to promote fertility, facilitate ease and optimal fetal positioning in pregnancy and labor, and to aid in women’s pelvic and womb health and wellness in general.

(1) of 8 techniques for optimal fetal positioning series a.k.a how to get your baby in the right position for birth

Optimal fetal positioning, a.k.a. how to get your baby in the right position for birth, is one of the most overlooked childbirth ed topics and least understood by the general population.

But it’s also one of the best topics to know about if you want to avoid a c-section – which I know you do. Cause no joke, nearly 90% of c-sections are due to fetal malposition or malpresentation.

Optimal fetal positioning is the act of moving or manipulating your body to allow the baby to move into your pelvis easily.

When your baby doesn’t descend into your pelvis easily, your labor could be a lot harder and longer than it needs to be and you very well might end up with a c-section.

So, I know I’ve got your attention now.

Back in 1996, 2 midwives published a book on the topic and ever since then, midwives, doulas and childbirth educators have been paying more attention, developing new ideas, and learning techniques from outside of the birth world to help.

For the next 8 days, I’m taking you on vacation to Key West, FL with me where I’m going to share with you 8 ways you can avoid a really long and hard labor and a c-section by learning about and utilizing optimal fetal positioning techniques.

Unfortunately, the 8 techniques I’m going to be telling you about in depth are underutilized because they are either unknown or not well understood by most women and their care providers.

So, here’s to your education and self-empowerment!

Learn about Technique number 1 – the Rebozo technique in today’s video right here.

If you’re a doula who’s used the Rebozo technique and seen it work miracles or a mama who’s had this technique performed on you before and seen it work miracles, tell me about your story by writing in to lacey@laceybroussard.com or leaving a comment in the comments section below.

If you have any friends or mama’s you could benefit from learning about how to decrease their chances of a c-section by learning 8 techniques for optimal fetal positioning, forward them this video and share the love!
