Every summer my family and I take a beach vacation to the Sandestin resort in Florida.
We just got back yesterday. Missed me last week? I sure missed hearing from you.
This year was particularly interesting though. Maybe because my pregnant mama radar is off the charts, but it seemed as though every lady I passed was pregnant.
Seeing those cute bellies made me think of the few times I traveled while pregnant. Wasn’t fun. Google wasn’t accessible by phone then nor did I properly prepare myself before embarking. More of a free-spirit than a planner at the time too.
Thought I could help out by giving you a few tips to enjoy your vacation pregnant.
I bet you started hearing about it at your 38 week appointment.
Your doctor probably even gave you the go-ahead to schedule your induction the day after you turned 39 weeks, or whatever day after 39 weeks would be convenient for you.
But definitely before 41 weeks.
And you’re like “What? I thought I already talked to you about having a natural birth. You even agreed to my birth plan!”
And then you start second guessing everything you ever learned or thought about childbirth because now your doctor is giving you reasons why it’s “unsafe” to go overdue.
You know when you get to your OB’s office, you sit down, start flipping through your phone, wait some more, maybe even pick up a magazine. (Wait, who does that anymore?)
And then the Price Is Right comes on – The ultimate indication that you are out of patience and you’re about to blow up on somebody’s mama for not calling you in sooner.
Finally your name is called! You see the nurse. Wait some more.
Then the OB comes in for a total of 5 minutes. And now you’re pissed you just spent 2.5 hours away from work for that.
5 minutes is the typical amount of time you communicate with your OB per appointment.
